2025-2026 Safety Council September Meeting Registration

Topic: Fall Protection

This Fall Protection presentation is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, evaluate, and control fall hazards in the workplace. The training covers both active and passive fall protection systems, emphasizing the importance of hazard assessment and proper equipment selection. Participants will explore the various types of fall protection, including fall prevention, fall arrest, fall restraint, and work positioning systems, learning how each method applies to different work environments and tasks. Through real-world examples and interactive discussions, the course highlights the critical role of planning and supervision in maintaining a safe worksite. By the end of this section, learners will understand how to implement effective fall protection strategies tailored to specific job requirements.

The lecture also delves into the foundational elements of fall protection, known as the A, B, C, Ds—Anchor, Body Harness, Connector, Distance (Fall Clearance), and Descent (Rescue). Each component is examined in detail to ensure participants can identify and properly use the right equipment for any given scenario. Additional topics include the differences between Type 1 and Type 2 Self-Retracting Lifelines (SRLs), the unique hazards associated with leading edges, and the importance of rescue planning. Emphasis is placed on compliance with OSHA standards and manufacturer guidelines to ensure legal and safe practices. Whether you're a safety manager, supervisor, or worker at height, this course provides essential training to reduce risks and improve fall protection outcomes across industries.
